Signs your gutters may need replacing

A lot of people are not sure when repair stops being enough. Here are the main things I tell customers to watch for:

1. Gutters pulling away from the fascia board
2. Visible cracks or splits along the run
3. Persistent damp patches on the wall below the gutter line
4. Sagging sections that no longer hold a proper fall
5. Rust or heavy staining on cast iron that goes deeper than the surface

Fascia and soffit

Rotting timber behind the gutters is something we see constantly, the guttering looks fine from the ground but the board it is fixed to is gone soft. We replace old timber fascia and soffit with uPVC board, which does not rot, does not need painting, and takes a bracket properly.
