Old flags versus modern porcelain

A lot of customers come to us wanting to replace tired York-stone-style flagstones. Fair enough. They look great when new but they absorb moisture, they stain, and Warwickshire winters are not kind to them. Vitrified porcelain is a different beast entirely. Frost-resistant, low-maintenance, and the colour holds. It costs more upfront (I’ll be straight with you about that), but over ten years it earns its keep.

The detail that actually matters

We prepare the sub-base properly. We get the falls right for drainage. We use a flame-textured granite anti-slip finish on steps and raised edges where it’s called for. That’s not a selling point. That’s just how it should be done.

Cuts are clean. Joints are tight. Levels are checked.
