Patios Oldtown

Irish weather does not forgive a bad patio

Irish ground moves. It gets waterlogged in October and baked dry by July. I have seen falls set wrong on jobs that looked fine on a dry Friday and were sitting in a puddle by Sunday. That is why we take the groundwork seriously before a single slab goes down.

We cover Oldtown and the surrounding area, doing patio installations, garden renovations, new lawns, fencing, and general outdoor paving work. We have laid surfaces for back gardens that were a muddy mess for years. Bit of proper planning and drainage makes all the difference.

Surfacing options we work with

There is a fair bit of choice when it comes to what goes underfoot. Here is what we install:

  • Indian sandstone, which suits a traditional garden well
  • Limestone paving, clean and flat with good colour consistency
  • Porcelain tiles, low maintenance and very hard-wearing
  • Granite slabbing, heavy and built to last
  • Standard garden paving where budget is the priority

Each material sits differently on the ground and handles Irish rainfall differently too. Porcelain in particular needs the right adhesive bed or it will lift. We know the differences. We work with them every week.

More than just paving

A lot of our work goes beyond slabs. We do lawn turfing for gardens that need a proper green finish. We put up wooden fencing that is correctly posted and will not lean after the first wet winter (and there is always a wet winter). Bricklaying is part of what we do as well, raised beds, steps, boundary walls.

We did a full rear garden renovation near Ballyboden GAA last year. Old concrete out, proper sub-base in, Indian sandstone laid with correct falls. Straightforward job done right. That is the standard we work to everywhere.
