Daventry Patios
Local patio work, done properly
Laid a patio last spring that had been skipped by three contractors. Good job they did skip it. The ground was a mess of compacted clay, nowhere near ready. That kind of job is where experience counts.
We work across Daventry and the surrounding areas. Porcelain, Indian sandstone, concrete flagstone, artificial grass, fencing, walling. If it goes in the garden, we do it.
- Porcelain tiled patios
- Indian sandstone and limestone paving
- Garden paths and patio areas
- New fencing and garden walling
- Turfed and artificial grass lawns
- Concrete flagstone installations
Why DIY on clay or sloping ground is a bad idea
Right, this comes up a lot. Clay soil moves with moisture and frost, so your base shifts unless it’s prepared correctly. Slopes need proper falls built in from the start, not guessed at. We bed everything on a 4:1 sharp sand cement bedding mortar, set to a consistent fall away from the house. That is the thing that stops water pooling against your foundations six months later. A weekend warrior with a hired plate compactor and a bag of building sand does not get that result. It looks fine for a summer, then it doesn’t.
Where we work
Based in Daventry, NN11. We cover the town itself and surrounding villages, out towards Kilsby, Weedon, Long Buckby. If you’ve ever walked the paths around Daventry Country Park, you’ll know how much wear proper hard landscaping takes, however a well-laid patio handles it fine for decades when the groundwork is right. Sure look, we’ve seen badly laid slabs from the nineties still holding their own because the base was done correctly.
