Introduction to Waterford

Waterford city is widely known as been the oldest city in Ireland. With its historical buildings from the viking times which can be seen in its many ancient sites in the county. The county has had a long history of theatrical and musical tradition with one of the oldest theatres the Theatre Royal that holds the Waterford international festival of light opera every year. City hall was designed by a native born architect John Roberts in the 18th century it has been restored in recent times and now it is home to the municipal art collection.Waterford museum of treasures at the Granary you will see jewellery dating from the 12^th century vikings to many more artifacts bring you right up to the 19^th century this is truly a wonderful place to see. We also have a new motorway which makes Waterford very accessible from Dublin and Cork. There is also Waterford airport which is only a short distances from the city.

Just a 40 minute drive a way you come to Dungarvan is a busy seaside market town that lies under the magnificent Comeragh mountains. Dungarvan is also known for being on the Copper Coast which makes this a very populare tourist destination for young and old with it's surfing, angling, country and coastal walks. Dungarvan is also home to west Waterford county museum where they have traced back as far as the Ice age. At present the museum is home to a lot of photographic evidence of this work.
