Mallow Tourist Information

Mallow (Magh Ealla in Irish means ‘plain of the swans') is known as the "Crossroads of Munster" and the administrative capital of north Cork.

Set deep in the Blackwater Valley, Mallow was traditionally an agricultural market town but due to vast improvements in infrastructure, coupled with significant promotion and investment from the Mallow Town Council and the private sector, has today become the primary growth centre of Munster.

Catering for all ages, there are lots of things to see and do and places to visit in Mallow Co. Cork.

Game/Coarse Angling
The Backwater River offers first class fishing for trout, salmon and roach.

Golf

Historical Interest
From the picturesque Clock house at the bottom of the town to Mallow Castle overlooking the river Blackwater this thriving north Cork town offers the Historian a wealth of interesting attractions. Visit the Spa House and learn about the curative powers of its Spa or view the beautiful Annes Grove gardens just 16km east of Mallow. Open to the public from March - September every year the garden is home to a fine 18th century house, woodland and a varied collection of rhododendrons.

Entertainment
Mallow Co. Cork hosts a wide and varied selection of entertainment both in town and in the surrounding areas to cater for all ages. There are regular art exhibitions in the newly built library and classical concerts are frequently held in St. Mary's Church.

Traditional Irish music and ballad sessions are held every Wednesday night in Albert Lynch's pub with no cover charge. The nightlife also hosts a variety of live music and craic with of course the traditional Irish 'Cead Mile Failte' guaranteed in every bar.
