Kinsale Tourist Information
This breathtaking heritage town has its own distinctive "bohemian" feel and is a very popular tourist destination all year round. Nestled between the hills and the shoreline Kinsale is a picturesque town on the south-west coast of Ireland. Located at the mouth of the river Bandon, Kinsale is only a 20 minute drive from Cork Airport. The town is renowned for its yachting, water sports and charter boats for coastal trips (e.g. whale and dolphin watching). If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land why not sample some of its many local attractions including golf, horse-riding and guided walks.
For historical lovers a trip to the International Museum of Wine at Desmond Castle is a must. Here you will learn the history of wine making in Ireland down through the centuries. Located only 5 minutes walk from the town centre the castle is open to the public from Easter to October.
Restaurants in Kinsale pride themselves on their high reputation for good food at affordable prices. Each year in October Kinsale holds a Gourmet Food Festival which celebrates the very best of what the local restaurateurs have to offer. Appearances from celebrity chefs and mouth watering delights this festival will entertain the whole family, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Kinsale is a "buzzing" town at night. Traditional Irish music spills out of the doors of the quaint watering holes while the trendy wine bars offer a chique and contemporary atmosphere.
