Having been involved in IT for 20 years, I found myself heading an International technical team for a global financial services provider. The role meant travelling frequently around the world, often at a moments notice. Whilst I enjoyed the travelling the work/life balance was very heavily work focused.
My wife (Catherine) and I had a little boy, James (pictured), in 2007 and the work/life balance had to be addressed. In 2007, whilst living in the UK, I bought CityLocal Cork. It's an internet business, so is IT based, and being self-employed gives me a degree of flexibility and control.
We moved to Cork in June 2008, and since that I date have been active in promoting CityLocal.
