River Moy : Water levels on the Moy have continued to drop slightly over the past week. The river is now very suitable for fly fishing and anglers are reminded that fishing on the famous Ridge Pool beat remains free of charge until the first salmon is captured there.
The Ballina Salmon Anglers water remained productive, with a further four salmon being caught for the week. Tommy Egan Snr. and Mark Beattie both had nice fish of 11lbs captured on the worm. Fergal McHale was also successful with a salmon of 9lbs as was Gerry Seck who caught one at 6.5lbs. Both of these fish were also caught on the worm.
The Cloongee Fishery produced its first salmon of the season on Monday 15th March, a fine 8.5lbs salmon was caught by Jim Murray while spinning. Anglers are reminded that numerous kelts are moving downstream at present and care should be taken while angling, if a kelt is hooked it should be released as quickly and as stress free as possible.
