The findings of the Louth Economic Forum have been presented to Conor Lenihan, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.
The Minister was in Dundalk last week to meet representatives of business including Chamber of Commerce (Dundalk & Drogheda) I.F.A. (Louth, Monaghan, Cavan), I.H.F (Irish Hotels Federation) and others on the subject of bank support for S.M.E. (Small & Medium Enterprises).
Paddy Malone President Dundalk Chamber and Graham Hughes President Drogheda Drogheda Chamber presented the Minister with copies of the three reports prepared to date by the Louth Economic Forum which is chaired by Padraic White, on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Sustainability and Indigenous Industry.
Paddy emphasised that the most recent report was relevant to all SMEs and not just those who export. The Forum had spent considerable time focusing on those businesses which are not supported by the Government Agencies, including retail, service and industries which do not export.
As a result of the Forum's research, Louth County Council and Manager Conn Murray had set up a unit, headed by Michael McCabe to liaise bettween all businesses and Louth County Council.
