The speed and scale of coastal erosion in Mid Kerry is frightening. That's according to Fianna Fail Councillor Michael Cahill who says communities like Rossbeigh, Cromane and Dooks are under serious threat. On Friday night the tide broke through to the dune area in Rossbeigh creating an island and cutting off almost five acres. A public meeting took place in September to address the issue. The Castlemaine Beacon, a tower located close to the beach leans to one side due to erosion. Councillor Michael Cahill is calling on the Government to pump funds into protecting the Kerry coastline:
