Kerry County Council is owed up to five million euro from the Department of the Marine for coastal protection works. The projects at Inch and Knightstown were undertaken by the council on the understanding that they would be reimbursed. However, the council is currently paying interest on the loan and says it's unclear when the funding will be allocated. Director of Finance with Kerry County Council John O'Connor say the cost of repaying the loan could hamper the progress of other schemes such as waste water. Councillors have said they will now approach Kerry Oireachtas members in a bid to secure the money
