Cycle 333k across Munster in two days, row 102k across the Irish Sea, then hike 150k across Wales to the top of an 886m high mountain in the Brecon Beacons in the following two days. That is what the Celtic Crow Conquest participants are doing to raise funds for the SMA Trust from July 24th - July 30th 2011. The SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) Trust is a registered charity which raises funds for medical research into this untreatable and debilitating disease, which affects motor neurons in the spinal cord, resulting in muscular weakness, leading to severe disability and the possibility of premature death.
A group of UK based businessmen/enthusiastic fundraisers are heading out from Dingle, Co. Kerry on the morning of Sunday 24th July on this challenge of a lifetime. They are cycling from Dingle to Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford by way of Co. Cork where they stop overnight. Then they are getting in a four man row-boat and rowing across the Irish Sea to Fishguard Harbour in Wales. The third leg is a two and a half day hike to get to the top of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in Southern Britain. All monies raised are going straight to the SMA through our just giving web site: http://www.justgiving.com/celticcrowconquest and if you would like to know more about the SMA Trust check out: http://www.smatrust.org/.
If you would like to know more or come meet our participants so they can let you know how they are doing in this physically demanding challenge please contact: Leah Franklin 00 44 774 758 4510 or e-mail: celticcrowconquest@gmail.com. They've already raised £25,000 before they've even started!
Our brave participants are staying at:
Dingle Skellig Hotel, Dingle, Co. Kerry, night of 23rd July 2011
Black Water Castle, Castletownroche, Co Cork, night of the 24th July 2011
Drinagh Court Hotel, Drinagh, Co Wexford, night 25th and potentially 26th depending on weather conditions for the rowing leg.
Stena Line is helping us out by shipping our rowing boat over from the UK so it's ready in Rosslare to row back to Wales when they've finished the cycling leg.
Contact us today to discuss how we can help you get your business found.
