Team News v Athlone Town
Cork City FORAS Co-op will be looking to bounce back from last Friday's defeat to Waterford United, as they travel to face Athlone Town on Saturday. That result meant that Tommy Dunne's side have claimed one point from their opening two fixtures, and the manager believes that this represents a good start to the season for his side: "We are still in the process of finding our feet, and seeing where we are really at. We've got a point from the first two games, and we would be relatively happy with that considering the circumstances. What is important now is that our performances need to improve each week, regardless of the results."
Greg O'Halloran will miss the game through suspension after his sending off, while Davin O'Neill is again doubtful with a hamstring injury, but Dunne hopes that the forward will be available. New signing Gearoid Morrissey is still recovering from a back injury, and will sit out this clash, but the manager is hopeful that he will be fit for the following game against Mervue.
"Greg being suspended does present a difficulty for us, but we have added a couple of players to the squad since the opening game, so that does give us a few more options. It will be a tough fixture for us. Athlone have had a good start to the season and they have a decent squad. Brendan Place has been building a squad there over the past couple of years and his squad are starting to understand what he wants from them."
