Top Local Artisan Producers and traders Feature Heavily At New Douglas Market

Start date: 18th September 2009 until 30th December 2020

Each Friday from 10am to 3pm

East Douglas Village will play host a new weekly market, which will take place every Friday Morning from the 11th of September.

The new market will be located along the main road through the East Douglas Village and will be packed with over 20 food stalls featuring the best of local artisan producers and farmer's market traders. The market will run from 10am to 3pm each Friday.Each Friday there will be a fantastic selection of local and organic vegetables, fresh fish, naturally cured meats, freshly baked wholesome breads, fresh pates, cakes, fair trade coffees, couverture chocolate, vegetarian foods, gluten free produce, cup cakes, delicious north American cakes, artisan pies and charcuterie.

Local favorites such as the West Cork Grill and Deli, On the Pigs Back, The Baking Emporium, Mark's Cheese Stall, Tom's Bakery, O Conaill Chocolate, Cupcake Cottage, Diva Cakes, Dee's Veggie Burgers, Flynn's Kitchen and Taste a Memory Pies will be there each week.

There will also be hot food to eat straight away with O'Flynn's Gourmet Sausages ad Gidi's falafel and lamb barbeque, Wok and Woll's Asian foods along with Flynn's Kitchen's freshly made dinners, soups, pies etc to take home and heat up!

The market, which is an initiative of Stephen Barry of the East Douglas Village Management Company is delighted with the initial interest in the market: "We are delighted to announce the opening of the market at The East Douglas Village and we are very excited about the quality of the traders that we have attracted to the market. We look forward to the 11th of September when the market will commence," Mr. Barry Said.Goldiefish Events are assisting the East Douglas Village in the management of the market as they have vast experience in running food events in the City: market manager Rose-Anne Kidney said: "East Douglas Village is a great location for the market, it's very easy to get to with loads of parking and it is great to get the support and backing of local businesses too, the standard of food on sale will be fantastic."

The local businesses in East Douglas Village are very excited at the prospect of having a fresh food market on their doorstep: "On behalf of all businesses in East Village, we welcome the new "Garden Market" to Douglas.  There will be a great variety of traders at the market and we look forward to seeing you on Friday mornings in East Village," Yvonne Casey, Mischief Makers, East Douglas Village.

The market would also like to establish itself as valuable resource for the community, as a place to meet friends and neighbours, bring the kids and find out about community events.  There will be music, plenty of seating and lots of parking available nearby.
